Craig Smith
Dumont, NJ
My Bucket List/Goals:
- Going on a cruise with my immediate family
- Seeing friends in different states
- Going to the Bronx zoo
- Seeing the statue of liberty
My Top Bucket List Focus And My Motivation Behind It
Going on a cruise with my family. I want to experience this now because I have stage 4 bladder cancer which has metastasized to my prostate and stomach and lymph node in my pelvis. I have about 6 months left of good health before I become sick. My chemo has stopped working and there are no more options left for me.
I am passionate about this because I would like to be able to go on one last vacation with my family and enjoy the time I have left with them. The reason for doing this now is as I described above, I only have a limited means of life left. The thing that motivates me to keep going is the support that I have from my family and all the love and support that they have given to me throughout this tough time.
The First Step I’ll Take To Make This Happen
TO make this happen I will get my family together and set a date to go on the cruise and make sure that my immediate family can go. I will call the cruise line and let them know my situation and see what they can do for me to make this happen.
My Action Plan Layout For My Top Bucket List Focus
My action plan is to get my immediate family together and set a date to go on the cruise. It will have to be within a 6 month span in order for us to go with my health being fine for now.
About Craig Smith
I am 35-yrs-old and live in Dumont, NJ with my aunt and uncle. I was born in a small town called Waldwick, NJ where I grew up until I was 27. I moved with my parents to Summerville, SC and lived there until 2007 and then moved to Chicago, IL. I lived there until last march of 2011 and moved back to SC to live with my father because I was unemployed in Chicago and my unemployment ran out, where I had no choice but to move back. But now I am living with my aunt and uncle in NJ to be with my family with the remaining time I have left.
Help Make Craig’s Bucket List Come True
The help I would need with achieving my goal described above would be helping with some contributions. At this time my family is not doing well with money right now due to the fact that my medical bills are very high and trying to get my medicaid back, but it is likely it will not happen due to my disability stating I make to much! I make less the $12k a year and my family is trying their best to help me with paying for medication and hospital bills and chemo.

Craig,
Have you considered organizations such as The Dream Foundation to aid you?
Here is an application to help you get your cruise underway!

I know there is no guarantee they can help, but it seems that you qualify and they really might help. This organization is the adult equivalent of “Make a Wish” for children. I really hope this helps!
Oh no! On their list they say they can’t do cruises. Oh man! Sorry about that. I will keep searching. They might help you get to the Statue of Liberty though:)
I feel like you could also find cruises such as Kick Cancer Overboard and fill out the form for a free cruise. It is always worth a shot!

Thank you for all of the help and all the information.
Hi Craig-
Passing along some resources that may be of help with your medical finances, perhaps they can provide some assistance and take a little pressure off of you and your loved ones.
