Make Things Happen For Yourself

Make Things Happen For Yourself

How?

Great Emelina, “‘Make Things Happen For Yourself.’ You make it sound easy, crazy B*#ch!”

Woah there, it is that easy, just as it is equally hard. It’s whatever you make it.

If there’s something you want, you simply have to go for it. Sounds easy right? But it can be apocalyptic intimidating. The only thing holding you back to achieving what you want – is you. If you tell yourself you can’t do something, you won’t be able to do it. If you truly believe in yourself that you can achieve whatever you set your mind to, you will. It’s that simple, and the simplest things are usually the hardest to implement.

Just Do It!

I like to follow Nike’s advice, “Just Do It!”

For example, I was doing Photoshop homework today and it was the last thing I wanted to do. I resisted, I was not focused, I resented it, it frustrated me – but when I finally allowed myself to focus, it was actually easy and didn’t take a lot of time to do. What took me the most time was battling myself, telling myself I didn’t want to do it. My negative thoughts wasted time – not necessarily the action of doing the homework.

It’s All About Your Mindset

When I was able to Just Do It – it happened, and it happened more quickly than I expected.

Since I started Community Bucket List – I have achieved some of my top focus bucket list items. Which is really cool because some people may think of their top focus bucket list items as this impossibly difficult obstacles to achieve, but I laid it all out. I described why I wanted to achieve that goal in the present moment, what was motivating and driving me, the first step I’d take to get myself going and I created an action plan layout to help me follow through with my goals.

What top focus bucket lists items have I achieved?

  1. Working for Curve Magazine, my favorite magazine and the best-selling lesbian magazine in th enation.
  2. Re-design the structure of the Love Warrior Community
  3. Focus on the Community Bucket List Contest
  4. Create a campaign to promote my What Drives You Contest
  5. Win the What Drives You Contest

Curve Magazine

I got an internship for Curve Magazine and have been publishing articles with them since September. I’ve got to interview and connect with amazing creative women and I feel a part of a lesbian/LGBTQ community, which was something I was missing right after graduation.

Since working for Curve, I also got a job as a Literature Critic for EDGE, another LGBTQ publication, and I have my eyes set on getting published in other LGBTQ publications and taking part in the LGBTQ community on a larger scale.

The Love Warrior Community

Re-design the structure of the Love Warrior Community. I did that. I’m going to be re-launching the Love  Warrior Community in about 2 weeks, and I’ll be welcoming the first Love Warrior Intern in about a month, and then in about a month and a half to 2 months, hopefully I’ll be launching a national self-love campaign.

Community Bucket List

Focus on the Community Bucket List Contest. I did that. The contest is over and it was fabulous. Everybody benefited from it, enjoyed it and wanted it to continue, regardless of prizes – so – the Community Bucket List Mastermind Group formed from it. People who have submitted bucket lists to this site and who are ready to put more focus and work into their goals can join the mastermind group to make weekly updates and have the support of a community.

What Drives You Contest

Create a campaign/win the dot429 What Drives You Contest. I didn’t create the campaign that I imagined, but I did share it a lot via the web and I have been networking like a mo fo. Will I win the contest, I have a feeling that I will, but there is still a month left in the contest. I’m currently in 1st  place and I hope it stays that way. :)

You Can Do The Same – You Can Make Things Happen For Yourself

What I’ve learned since creating Community Bucket List this past July — I really can achieve anything that I set my mind to, I have been, I’ll continue to do so — and there is no limit on what I can achieve.

If you want to do the same, submit a bucket list, decide what goal you want to focus on now, join the FB Group and share your journey and success with the CBL Community, join the Community Bucket List Mastermind Group and get more focused support from a small trusted group.

What you gain from Community Bucket List is similar to how you live your life — It’s what you make of it. So make the most of it.
